If you told me a few months ago that I would soon ride a gondola in the middle of the Pacific Northwest, I would’ve thought you were crazy. A gondola in the Pacific Northwest? It seems like such an absurd notion, but it’s an experience that was all kinds of awesome once I experienced it for myself.
The only other time I stepped onto a gondola was in Venice, Italy back in 2011 when I was on a TopDeck tour around Europe. None of the 20-something year olds I was traveling with could afford a gondola ride by themselves, so 5 of us split the cost and piled into one together.
I heard about Hotel Murano before I arrived in Tacoma. When I was researching a trip to the area on my own months previously, Hotel Murano came up time and time again in my search. I kept thinking how nice of a hotel it seemed, at least online, and how I would love to stay there at some point.
That trip never came to fruition but fast forward half a year later and I was on my way to Tacoma on an InstaFAM trip with Travel Tacoma and Visit Rainier.
How to spend 48 hours in a beloved Pacific Northwest city without overdoing it.
We were ecstatic as we left the city of Portland behind us. Seattle was calling us to it’s shores and we were happy to oblige for a weekend away exploring more of the Pacific Northwest.
It wasn’t exactly my first impression of Seattle, since I had been to the city 8 years previously to look at colleges – wow, I feel old! However, it truly felt like I was seeing it for the first time when I went for a visit this month. I looked at travel so much differently back then, and at that time I had only spent one day in the city, en route to Puget Sound University for an overnight dorm stay.
