A photo essay through Nelson

Nelson, New Zealand is one of those special places branded in my memories from my trip around the country. It was the starting point for my South Island journeys, and the last stop before my multi-day hike through Abel Tasman.

Most importantly, it’s where I met some of the best kinds of people.

The great weather and beautiful blue skies only added to the effect it had on me. It’s not an over exaggeration to say that some of my fondest memories came from my couple of days in the small city.

And so, saving my words for another day, I want to take you on a tour through Nelson from my camera lens.

The road to Nelson

Is filled with semi-blue Skies

A stop on the way to avoid carsickness on the Queen Charlotte Drive

An initial glimpse at the turquoise blue

A single lily pad found on the boulder bank hue

A tenacious history of the sea

Is there a better spot from which to see?

The koru is native to the land

So you can find the basis, of where to stand

Bringing together the two

To sow the seeds of the bumblebee crew

A cathedral to make Nelson a city

A Christmas tree to always remember the season

Iced lattes, sunny days, the islands, a fragile breeze

Last night sunset swim, fish & chips on the beach, feeling the utmost free.

This is Nelson, a city by the sea .
