TL/DR: I’ve tested Allbirds Tree Runners and Wool Runners for over three years. They’re both some of my favorite shoes (and for a decent price!). The Allbirds Tree Runners, in particular, are my favorite shoes for traveling and walking around on vacations.

My detailed Allbirds review after trying out the Allbirds Wool Runners and Tree Runners. As well as a quick look at every Allbirds shoe style to compare and contrast the right one for you.

Full disclosure: this post contains affiliate links, which help run this site at no extra cost to you so I can keep providing free travel advice and tips. I also received one complementary pair of Allbirds shoes and bought a second pair for myself, but all opinions are my own.

When I first saw an Allbirds review on a New York lifestyle blog back in 2015, I was immediately drawn to the look and style of Allbirds sneakers.

Add in the fact that they were touted as the “most comfortable shoes in the world” and I knew they were at least a shoe brand I wanted to try out in the near future.

Fast forward five years (okay, so not that near in the future).

I found myself scrolling through the Allbirds website, mouth agape, as I looked at the many styles of shoes the brand now offered.

I had been following the company on and off for the past few years, but I was impressed by how many new styles and colors of Allbirds there were to choose from now.

After perusing the site for a while, I finally got two pairs to try out for myself – the Allbirds Wool Runners and the Allbirds Tree Runners.

A pair of grey Allbirds wool runners vs Allbirds tree runners in pink, sitting on a hardwood floor.

Due to their stellar return and exchange policy, I was originally planning on trying out both and sending back the one I liked the least.

But I have to be real guys – I’ve sipped the Allbirds kool-aid and there’s no going back.

I ended up keeping both the Wool Runners and the Tree Runners because they were more different than I expected.

I could easily justify keeping both pairs for different reasons.

Of course, now I want to try out even more Allbirds styles because these shoes are really some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn.

And as someone who is an avid walker and is often on her feet all day while exploring new cities and national parks, comfortable travel shoes are crucial for me.

Now that I’ve had a few months to try out both styles, I wanted to write a detailed Allbirds review on the Allbirds Tree Runners vs Allbirds Wool Runners.

I’m also going to take you through other Allbirds styles and my recommended picks for the best Allbirds shoe depending on what you’re looking for.

Short on time? Here’s a quick comparison of Allbirds Wool Runners vs. Allbirds Tree Runners.

Allbirds Shoes Review: Wool Runners vs Tree Runners

First Impressions & Breaking In Allbirds

My Allbirds came within a week after ordering them.

The first thing I noticed was the packaging (which is the same for both shoes) and how environmentally friendly it is.

Allbirds packaging is made from 90% recycled cardboard and includes no plastic whatsoever.

They also send their shoes in a shoebox that doubles as a mailer so there isn’t unnecessary packaging.

A pair of Allbirds tree runners in pink, sitting on a hardwood floor next to the shoebox they came in.

I opened both boxes immediately and found the shoes loosely placed in the box, all brand new and ready to wear.

I couldn’t wait to try them on.

After the packaging, the second aspect I noticed was the aesthetic of both shoes and how different the Wool Runners vs the Tree Runners looked.

The Tree Runners have a mesh exterior that is meant to be more breathable.

To be honest, I wasn’t sure how much I would like the look of the mesh, but I liked the look of it a lot more in person than I did on the Allbirds website.

The Wool Runners, on the other hand, have a merino wool exterior that oozes warmth and coziness.

Already I could tell these were two very different shoes.

I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of the breaking in period with Allbirds since I usually have sensitive feet that take a while to adjust to new shoes.

I shouldn’t have been worried.

Allbirds are some of the comfiest shoes I’ve worn right out of the box.

From day one, I haven’t had any issues with blisters or sore toes.

Both styles fit my feet perfectly and there was no painful breaking in period.

Comfort

Although the Wool Runners and the Tree Runners have the same merino insole and therefore similar arch support, the Tree Runners are slightly more comfortable in terms of support.

This might be due to the supportive shape of the Tree Runners that molds more snugly around the shape of your foot, but I always put on my Tree Runners when I’m going for a quick workout or long walk (assuming it’s not cold).

The Wool Runners, although extremely cozy with their Merino wool interior, have a slightly looser fit so they’re not quite as supportive.

With that said, if it’s below 50 F in San Francisco, I almost always wear the Wool Runners because I’m prone to cold feet and I like the cozy feel of them.

A hand holding up a grey Allbirds wool runner with a white-walled room in soft focus in the background.

At the same time, if it’s above 65 F, the Wool Runners make my feet sweat because they’re a little too warm.

This is one of the reasons why I decided to keep both pairs – I live in San Francisco.

The weather here is relatively temperate, but it can also fluctuate a lot.

It’s nice to have a warmer and a lighter pair of Allbirds depending on what the weather decides to do for the day.

Weather aside, the Tree Runners are the winner for me in terms of comfort.

Winner: Tree Runners.

Versatility & Style

Besides the different materials used – the Wool Runners are mostly made from merino wool and the Tree Runners from eucalyptus trees – the style of each shoe is very different as well.

The Tree Runners are a sportier shoe, with curves that match the natural curves of your feet.

It’s lighter and more of a snug fit that’s great for long walks and short workouts.

A hand holding up a pink Allbirds tree runner with a white-walled room in soft focus in the background.
A hand holding up a grey Allbirds wool runner with a white-walled room in soft focus in the background.

The Wool Runners are also a good walking shoe, but they’re not quite as sporty.

They’re a wider shoe that fits comfortably but not as snug around your feet as the Tree Runners.

I’d say the Wool Runners are better shoes for lounging, short walks, and for keeping your feet nice and warm.

In terms of versatility, if we’re talking about an everyday sneaker, the Tree Runners are a clear winner for me.

They’re breathable and keep your feet a nice temperature for most types of weather (as long as it’s not super cold).

From walking to easy hikes, working out, and even short runs, you can wear the Tree Runners for most active things.

A light-haired woman wearing jeans, a yellow sweater, and pink Allbirds tree runners seen from behind standing on a patio in a backyard with trees and hills in the background.

This is a big reason why I recommend the Tree Runners for anyone who leads an active lifestyle.

However, the Wool Runners can be versatile in their own right.

Because the Tree Runners have such a sporty look, it’s harder to dress them up.

The Wool Runners are more subtle in their style and could be more easily worn to a nice restaurant or at a conference with a nice pair of pants.

Winner: Tie. Tree Runners for everyday wear and activities; Wool Runners for styling and pairing with a variety of outfits.

Durability

Since I’ve only had my Allbirds for a few months, I can’t speak to the durability too much yet.

I will say that I’ve worn either my Wool Runners or Tree Runners almost every day since they arrived.

With that said, we’re still in shelter in place right now in San Francisco so that mostly consists of doing grocery runs or walking through Golden Gate Park.

So far the durability for both the Wool Runners and the Tree Runners has held up.

A pair of grey Allbirds wool runners and a pair of pink Allbirds tree runners sitting on a hardwood floor.

The one comment I’ve come across from other Allbirds owners is that the Tree Runners seem to stain easier than the Wool Runners.

Of course, that probably depends on the color you purchase as well.

Another comment I’ve heard about the Tree Runners’ durability is that the mesh material sometimes gets holes in it because it’s easier for it to get snagged.

For the Wool Runners, holes don’t seem to be as much of an issue.

I did some additional scouring on the internet (read: Reddit) and read through a few other comments about Allbirds durability as a whole and how long each style tends to last.

The most common responses I found said that the Wool Runners sometimes only lasted for six months to a year if you wore them every day.

And they’re also more likely to lose their shape compared to the Tree Runners.

Although some users said they’ve had their Wool Runners for two years, so it probably depends on how much you’re wearing them.

A screenshot of Allbirds wool runners durability reviews on Reddit.

The consensus on Reddit is that the Tree Runners last longer as a whole.

Even with their tendency to stain more easily and to sometimes get holes in the mesh material, the Tree Runners seem to be more durable for the long haul.

Winner: Tree Runners.

Odor

I’m a few months into wearing my two pairs of Allbirds without socks and neither one has a funky odor so far.

With that said, I’m not usually prone to smelly feet and it also doesn’t get that hot in San Francisco.

The good thing about Allbirds though is that they’re designed to be worn without socks.

Both the Wool Runners and the Tree Runners have a castor bean insole that’s moisture-wicking and odor-reducing.

A close-up of Allbirds tree runners insoles.

However, I’ve noticed on warmer days that my feet do sweat a little in the Wool Runners so I almost always wear the breezier Tree Runners if it’s above 65 F.

If you’re concerned about smelly feet, it could be worth it to wear socks with your Allbirds to have that extra layer of odor protection.

So far I personally haven’t noticed any issues with either style of Allbirds in terms of smelliness.

I’ll update this section if that ever changes.

Winner: Tie – with a slight preference towards the Tree Runners because my feet sometimes sweat in the Wool Runners (although neither one is smelly).

A Closer Look at the Wool Runners vs Tree Runners

Let’s dive into both styles of Allbirds in more detail to give you a better picture of the main takeaways for each shoe.

Allbirds Review: Wool Runners

A pair of grey Allbirds wool runners sitting on a hardwood floor.

The Allbirds Wool Runners are the OG Allbirds.

This was the first line of Allbirds shoes to take the sustainable sneaker industry by storm.

Materials

ZQ Merino wool, Brazilian sugarcane, castor bean oil, and post-consumer recycled polyester.

What’s Different About the Allbirds Wool Runners?

This is Allbirds signature shoe and what initially set the company apart from other sneakers in the industry when they first came on the scene.

The Wool Runners are known for their flexibility, warmth, and coziness, as well as being a sustainable sneaker made from renewable materials (although all Allbirds shoes can say that).

The Allbirds Wool Runners are known for being on the warmer size.

They’re also slightly cozier than the tree styles because the Wool Runners are mostly made from merino wool.

Who Are the Allbirds Wool Runners For?

The Allbirds Wool Runners are a good choice for anyone looking for a solid all-around comfortable daily sneaker that’s versatile for a variety of leisure activities or easy walks.

These are good shoes if you need to be on your feet all day, which is why they’re a popular pick for doctors and healthcare workers.

If you live in a temperate to chillier climate or need a warm sneaker for colder days (that don’t involve rain or snow), these are a good pick.

The Allbirds Wool Runners aren’t the best choice if you’re looking for sneakers that are good for hiking or working out since they tend to get warm quickly.

Allbirds Review: Tree Runners

A pair of Allbirds tree runners in pink sitting on a hardwood floor.

Allbirds listened to their customers who asked for a lighter and breezier option besides the Wool Runners, and the Tree Runners were born.

These sneakers are now one of the most popular Allbirds shoe styles.

Materials

Eucalyptus tree fiber, Brazilian sugar cane, castor bean oil, merino wool (insoles), and post-consumer recycled polyester.

What’s Different About the Allbirds Tree Runners?

The main difference in the Allbirds Tree Runners compared to the Wool Runners is that they’re much more breathable.

This is due to being made with eucalyptus tree fiber as opposed to Merino wool.

Who Are the Allbirds Tree Runners For?

Allbirds Tree Runners are a fan favorite for anyone looking for a sportier shoe that’s more breathable and lightweight than the Wool Runners.

The Tree Runner is more ideal for those who lead an active lifestyle as it can be worn comfortably for most activities, sports, and long walks.

I generally always go for my Tree Runners over the Wool Runners if I’m doing something that involves a decent amount of effort (e.g. at home interval workouts, short runs, etc).

Whereas I use my Wool Runners for cozy walks around the city or running errands (if it’s not too hot out).

If you’re looking for a good “summer” sneaker or something that’s a little less warm than the Wool Runners (but still cozy), this is a good option.

The Tree Runners are good for those who value breathable materials over warmth.

Conclusion: Allbirds Tree Runners vs Wool Runners – Which is the Better Shoe?

A pair of grey Allbirds wool runners and a pair of pink Allbirds tree runners sitting on a hardwood floor.

Although I adore both pairs of Allbirds for different reasons, the clear winner for my active lifestyle and personal style is the Allbirds Tree Runners

I would say that I wear my Tree Runners 70% of the time and my Wool Runners 30% of the time (usually on colder days).

Although from an aesthetic perspective, the Wool Runners are more versatile, I think the Tree Runners are more versatile in terms of activities.

I’ve worn them for working out, walking the dog, short runs, and I’ll probably continue to wear them for several more “active” activities, such as hiking, basketball, and more.

shoes that go with everything - Allbirds tree runners

The Wool Runners just don’t feel as supportive for the more strenuous activities like the Tree Runners do.

I love the support I get from the Tree Runners and how the shape of the sneaker fits snugly around my foot.

I also like their breathability because I’m not a fan of sweaty feet.

I would even say that the Allbirds Tree Runners are the perfect travel sneakers because of how lightweight, versatile, and packable they are.

You can read my full review about Allbirds Tree Runners here

With that said, I still kept my Allbirds Wool Runners because of how damn comfy they are.

They feel amazing to wear on colder days when I just want warm feet and comfortable shoes to walk around the city in.

Whenever I slip them on, they feel like fashionable slippers that are socially acceptable in public and I’m 100% here for it.

Other Allbirds Styles & Reviews

Allbirds Tree Breezers

Product image for Allbirds Tree Breezers flats in maroon.

The Allbirds version of flats.

The Tree Breezers are made from the same materials as the Tree Runners but are flats instead of sneakers.

Materials

Eucalyptus tree fiber, Brazilian sugar cane, castor bean oil, and merino wool (insoles).

What’s Different About the Allbirds Tree Breezers

The main difference in the Allbirds Tree Breezers is the obvious fact that they’re flats.

As I mentioned above, they’re made with the same materials as the Tree Breezers.

This means you can still expect breathable and comfortable shoes, just in the form of flats.

Who Are the Allbirds Tree Breezers For?

Anyone who is looking for a comfortable and breathable pair of flats that are sustainably made and cozy.

The Tree Breezers aren’t going to be as supportive as other styles of Allbirds since they’re flats.

However, they’re a good choice if you want a versatile and stylish pair of Allbirds that can easily go with dresses and skirts.

These shoes can be dressed up or down and since they still include the merino wool insole, they’re probably some of the coziest flats you’ll find.

If you’re looking for more comfortable travel flats, check out my full Tieks review here.

Allbirds Wool Loungers

A woman in white pants and a purple sweater wearing Allbirds Wool Loungers in grey, sitting with her arms resting on her knees.

Was anyone else a fan of Vans slip-ons in the early 2000s?

Well, Allbirds has created the 2.0 version of those.

The Wool Loungers are non-laced slip-on shoes that are made with the same materials as the Wool Runners.

Materials

ZQ Merino wool, Brazilian sugarcane, and castor bean oil.

What’s Different About the Allbirds Wool Loungers

The standout difference with the Wool Loungers is their versatile and more laidback style.

Although they’re made from the same materials as the Wool Runners, they have a flatter midsole and they’re more shaped like slippers than sneakers.

Who Are the Allbirds Wool Loungers For?

The Wool Loungers are for people who are looking for something between sneakers and flats in terms of style and support.

These shoes aren’t going to be quite as supportive as the Runners and Mizzle styles, but they’re great for just lounging around (as the name implies) and standing for long hours.

Similar to the Allbirds Tree Breezers (aka Allbirds flats), they can be dressed up or down more easily than the Runners.

If you’re not a big fan of the sneaker look but you still want the comfort of Allbirds shoes, these are a good option.

In terms of the Wool Loungers vs Tree Loungers, it depends on how warm you like your Allbirds.

The Wool Loungers are best for colder days and the Tree Loungers are more ideal for breezy summer days, similar to the Wool Runners vs Tree Runners.

Allbirds Tree Loungers

Product image for the Allbirds Tree Loungers in light blue.

The Allbirds Tree Loungers are almost the same shoe as the Allbirds Wool Loungers but made from eucalyptus tree fibers instead of Merino wool for a more breathable shoe.

Materials

Eucalyptus tree fiber, proprietary foam, castor bean oil, and merino wool (insoles).

What’s Different About the Allbirds Tree Loungers

The main difference in the Allbirds Tree Loungers is the midsole.

Instead of the usual SweetFoam made from Brazilian sugarcane that is found in other Allbirds shoes, the Tree Loungers use proprietary foam for the lightest possible sole.

Similar to the Tree Runners, the Tree Loungers also feature a S-curve tread that fits the natural curve of your feet.

Because of this, the Tree Loungers are a slightly more snug fit than the Wool Loungers.

These are basically a lighter version of the Wool Loungers, but better for warmer days because they’re more breathable than the Wool Loungers.

Who Are the Allbirds Tree Loungers For?

Anyone who is looking for a versatile slip-on shoe that is more breathable.

The Tree Loungers have a slightly more casual look to them, so they aren’t as easy to dress up as the Wool Loungers.

If you’re looking for a non-laced casual and comfortable slip-on shoe that is lightweight, this is a good option.

Allbirds Tree Skippers

Product image for Allbirds tree skippers in dark blue.

Not quite sneakers, not quite flats – the Allbirds Tree Skippers are a boat shoe style that’s perfect for warm summer days when you want to feel light on your feet.

Materials

Eucalyptus tree fiber, proprietary foam, castor bean oil, and merino wool (insoles).

What’s Different About the Allbirds Tree Skippers

Similar to the Tree Loungers, the Tree Skippers are the only other style of Allbirds to use the proprietary foam sole instead of the Brazilian sugarcane.

This means you can expect less all-around support but more of an ultralight shoe.

The main difference in the Tree Skippers is that this is the only boat shoe style that Allbirds offers.

A good way to describe the style is something between sneakers and flats – super lightweight, versatile, and comfortable but not as supportive as a full sneaker.

Who Are the Allbirds Tree Skippers For?

Someone who is looking for a lightweight and breathable slip-on shoe and who prefers the boat shoe look over the style of loafers, sneakers, or flats.

These aren’t going to be the best option for walking for miles on end like some of the other Allbirds styles, but the Tree Skippers are great for relaxed summer days and laidback adventures.

They’re also an ideal style of Allbirds in terms of their versatility.

Although more on the casual side, they can easily be dressed up or down and worn with dresses and skirts.

Plus, the boat shoe style is classic. It never gets old or goes out of fashion.

Allbirds Tree Toppers

Product image for the Allbirds tree toppers in orange.

The Tree Toppers are essentially the same shoe as the Allbirds Tree Runners but in a high top style.

Materials

Eucalyptus tree fiber, Brazilian sugar cane, castor bean oil, merino wool (insoles), and post-consumer recycled polyester.

What’s Different About the Allbirds Tree Toppers

The aspect I love about Allbirds is that the backbone of their shoes is mostly the same throughout each shoe style, it’s just minor things that come down to aesthetic and taste that differentiates one Allbirds style from another.

This can especially be said for the Tree Toppers, which are the same shoe as the Tree Runners but in a high-top style instead of a traditional sneaker look.

Who Are the Allbirds Tree Toppers For?

Anyone who is a fan of the old school high-top Converse look and wants more ankle support than a classic sneaker can provide.

Since these shoes are made from the same materials as the Tree Runners, you can expect light and breathable shoes that are best for temperate to warmer days.

Allbirds Wool Runner Mizzles

Product image for Allbirds Wool Runner Mizzles in taupe.

For a while, one of the main complaints from Allbirds customers was that Allbirds shoes weren’t waterproof – an important feature for those who live in rainier climates looking for their perfect everyday sneaker.

The response from Allbirds was coming out with Mizzles – Allbirds’ water-resistant and weather-repellant line of shoes.

Now, the Allbirds Wool Runner Mizzles aren’t fully waterproof, but they’re the closest you’ll get to waterproof shoes from Allbirds as of now.

Materials

ZQ Merino wool, fluorine-free water repellant coating, natural rubber, Brazilian sugarcane, castor bean oil, and post-consumer recycled polyester.

What’s Different About the Allbirds Wool Runner Mizzles

The main difference between the Wool Runner Mizzles and any other non-Mizzle style is the fact that they’re more weatherproof.

From their water-repellant coating to their non-slip natural rubber treads for better traction, and an overall thicker wool sneaker for the cold, these are the most durable Allbirds on the market.

Who Are the Allbirds Wool Runner Mizzles For?

Someone who is looking for a durable and comfortable sneaker that has good traction and can be worn in cold and rainy weather.

Don’t expect to be able to wear the Wool Mizzles in snow or torrential tropical rain, but for most weather situations, these shoes are a good bet to keep your feet warm and dry.

One thing to note is that the Mizzles are even warmer and thicker than the Wool Runners, so you should plan to mostly wear them in colder climates if you don’t want your feet to sweat.

Allbirds Wool Runner-Up Mizzles

Product image for Allbirds Wool Runner Up Mizzles in light pink.

The same shoe as the Allbirds Wool Runner Mizzles but the high-top version.

Materials

ZQ Merino wool, fluorine-free water-repellant coating, natural rubber, Brazilian sugarcane, castor bean oil, and post-consumer recycled polyester.

What’s Different About the Allbirds Wool Runner-Up Mizzles

Similar to the Allbirds Tree Toppers, the only difference between the Allbirds Wool Runner-Up Mizzles and the Allbirds Wool Runner Mizzles is the high-top style vs the traditional sneaker style.

Who Are the Allbirds Wool Runner-Up Mizzles For?

The Allbirds Wool Runner-Up Mizzles are for someone who is looking for a comfortable and warm water-repellant sneaker.

If you live in a colder climate or you’re looking for a quality winter sneaker, even better, since these are on the warm side.

Also, if you’re a fan of the high-top style – either for ankle support, the look, or both – more than the classic sneaker style, these are a good option.

Allbirds Tree Dashers (Running Shoes)

Product image for Allbirds Dashers in light grey.

For all those people who once bemoaned the fact that Allbirds Wool Runners and Tree Runners weren’t actually all that good for long-distance running – the Allbirds Tree Dashers are the answer to those criticisms.

The Allbirds Dasher running shoe is the newest Allbirds style to hit the market and the first Allbirds running shoe.

When creating the shoe, they had over 50 amateur and pro athletes test it for a year to refine and update the design as needed.

Materials

Eucalyptus tree fiber, Brazilian sugar cane, castor bean oil, merino wool, natural rubber, bio-nylon, and post-consumer recycled polyester.

What’s Different About the Allbirds Tree Dashers?

The Allbirds Dashers are probably the most different compared to any other Allbirds style.

First off, the shoes were designed with runners in mind instead of the everyday sneaker wearer so the design reflects that.

In terms of materials, the Dashers are most similar to the Allbirds Tree Runners with some key differences.

Most notably, the Dashers have a dual-density SweetFoam sole that is optimized for cushion and stability.

There’s also a light wool heel lining that helps keep your foot in place and gives you a touch of added support.

In addition, the whole bottom sole of the shoes have a different geometric design than any other Allbirds shoes.

Most notably, it features rubber traction pads for better control and stability.

Another slight difference with the Allbirds Tree Dashers is that the insole doesn’t have Merino wool, just a removable castor bean sockliner so your feet don’t get too warm.

Lastly, the Dashers are meant to be worn with socks, unlike the majority of Allbirds shoes that highlight sock-free wear.

Who Are the Allbirds Tree Dashers For?

For anyone who is looking for a breathable running shoe and workout shoe that provides a decent amount of support and comfort.

If you’re looking for a step-up from the Allbirds Tree Runners for a more supportive running shoe, this is a good choice.

Read our detailed guide to the Allbirds Tree Dashers.

How to Wash Allbirds Shoes

Cleaning Allbirds is as easy as putting them in a linen bag and throwing them in the wash.

This is a great feature of the shoes if you like the look of a lighter color of Allbirds but you’re worried about them getting too dirty.

There are just a few things to keep in mind when washing Allbirds.

First off, you should take out the insoles and the laces before throwing them in the washing machine.

It’s also good to brush off any extra dirt with a towel.

Secondly, you should put the shoes in a linen bag so they don’t get any snags in them when they’re going through the wash.

This is especially important for the mesh exterior of the Tree Runners.

Run the shoes through the “delicates” cycle with cold water and use a gentle detergent – WITHOUT bleach!

Afterward, it’s best to let them air dry instead of putting them in the dryer on low.

If you want to wash your insoles as well, wash those by hand and let them air dry.

And voila! You now have clean Allbirds.

It’s that simple.

Allbirds Sizing

I’ll be writing up an Allbirds sizing guide soon, but until then I’ll just say that Allbirds sizing is mostly true to size, with a few exceptions.

The styles of Allbirds that run slightly small include the Tree Breezers, Tree Skippers, and the Wool Runner Mizzles.

The only Allbirds that sometimes run slightly large are the Tree Runners.

Although in my personal experience with ordering a pair of Tree Runners, they fit true to my normal size (granted, I did order a men’s size equivalent to my usual women’s 9.5 though).

The downside with Allbirds shoes is they don’t offer half sizes, except for the Allbirds Tree Breezers and Tree Dashers.

The good news is that the Allbirds wool styles are fairly stretchy and they will eventually mold to your foot, assuming you get a pair that’s close to your usual size.

With that said, don’t expect the tree styles to stretch too much. How they fit initially is pretty much how they’ll always fit.

A pair of feet wearing Allbirds tree runners in pink standing on a hardwood floor.

If you live in a major city, my recommendation for making sure you get the right size Allbirds is to go into a physical Allbirds store to try on the shoes in person.

They now have stores in San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Boston, Austin, Washington DC, Auckland, London, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Berlin, and Tokyo.

Another option is to utilize their fantastic return and exchange policy and order two different sizes of the same shoe from their online store, especially if you’re usually in between whole sizes.

That way, you can try on both pairs of shoes from the comfort of your home and send back the pair that doesn’t fit,  completely free.

Allbirds Return Policy & Exchanges

This brings me to the Allbirds returns and exchanges policy.

Allbirds policy says you can return your Allbirds shoes within 30 days, no questions asked.

This even includes if you’ve worn them outside.

It doesn’t matter. As long as it’s within those 30 days, you’re able to send back your shoes for an exchange or refund.

Their only requirement is that you send back your shoes from the same country of purchase.

And their return and exchange policy only applies to their shoes, so you won’t be able to send back Allbirds accessories.

The one exception is Allbirds socks, which you’re able to send back within 30 days as long as the packaging is unopened.

FAQ

Are Allbirds Really That Comfortable?

OMG yes.

I don’t think I’ve ever owned a more comfortable pair of sneakers.

The merino wool inserts honestly make it feel like you’re walking on a cloud.

Plus, there’s enough support to make my feet feel cozy and secure at all times.

Are Allbirds Good for Walking?

Yes, Allbirds are good for walking.

This is especially the case for the “sneaker” styles, such as the Wool Runners, Tree Runners, Tree Dashers, and the Mizzles

The Tree Breezers, Tree and Wool Loungers, and Tree Skippers can be good for short walks, but they’re not going to be as supportive as the Allbirds sneaker styles.

Are Allbirds Waterproof

There aren’t any Allbirds shoes that are fully waterproof.

The only styles of Allbirds that are water-resistant are the Wool Runner Mizzles and the Wool Runner-Up Mizzles.

Can You Wear Allbirds With Socks?

Yes.

Although Allbirds are designed to be worn without socks, if you’re prone to sweaty feet or you want an extra layer of warmth for the breezier styles, you can definitely wear Allbirds with socks.

And the new Allbirds workout shoe, the Tree Dasher, is meant to be worn with socks.

What Is So Special About Allbirds?

The aspect that set Allbirds apart in the sneaker market is that they’re an environmentally-conscious company that only creates sustainably-made shoes.

Because they’re made (or lined) with merino wool, Allbirds are also some of the comfiest sneakers in the world.

And that’s not even an exaggeration.

Do Allbirds Shoes Last?

The short answer is it depends.

I’ve heard everything from six months to two years or more depending on the style of Allbirds and how often you wear them.

One thing I’ll say is that it seems that the tree styles last a little longer as a whole than the wool styles and are slightly more durable.

Are Allbirds Good for Wide Feet?

Yes, Allbirds can be good for wide feet.

If you have especially wide feet, it’s best to go with their wool styles because they have a slightly looser fit than the tree styles.

They’re also more likely to stretch a little to the shape of your foot unlike the tree styles.

Do Allbirds Get Smelly?

My Allbirds haven’t had any issues with smelliness yet.

If you’re prone to sweaty or smelly feet, I’ve heard that Allbirds can get a bit smelly from time to time.

If this is the case, it’s best to wear socks with your Allbirds and to wash them regularly.

Does Nordstrom Carry Allbirds?

No. Nordstrom doesn’t carry Allbirds anymore.

For a limited time, you were able to find Allbirds at Nordstrom, but they’re no longer available.

The only place to buy Allbirds in person right now is at an official Allbirds store.

Can You Buy Allbirds on Amazon?

No. You can buy knockoff Allbirds on Amazon, but not the real deal.

Can You Buy Allbirds in Stores?

Yes. Allbirds has several stores in major cities around the world.

You can now find Allbirds stores in San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Boston, Austin, Washington DC, Auckland, London, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Berlin, and Tokyo.

Do Allbirds Run Big or Small?

It depends on the style of Allbirds.

Most Allbirds styles are true to size, with a few exceptions.

The Allbirds styles that run slightly small are the Tree Breezers, Tree Skippers, and the Wool Runner Mizzles.

The only Allbirds style that sometimes runs slightly big is the Tree Runner.

Can You Run in Allbirds?

Allbirds just came out with a new running shoe called the Tree Dasher that was designed for long-distance runs and workouts.

In terms of their other styles, the only other style that might be good for short runs is the Tree Runner.

Do Allbirds Have Arch Support?

There is some arch support in the sneaker styles of Allbirds, especially the Tree Runners and the Tree Dashers.

If you need more than a standard amount of support, I’d recommend purchasing a pair of good insoles to put into your Allbirds.

These insoles are a good choice for Allbirds

Luckily, Allbirds insoles are removable, so it’s easy to switch them out for an insole that provides more support if you need it.

Do Allbirds Ever Go on Sale?

No, Allbirds sales and coupons aren’t a thing.

The company tries to keep the cost of their shoes at an affordable rate and therefore doesn’t offer additional discounts – even for Black Friday.

The best way to find discounted Allbirds is through Poshmark or eBay, but these are mostly going to be used shoes.

Who Are Allbirds For?

So who wears Allbirds and who are Allbirds for?

It’s easy to write off Allbirds as just another trendy sneaker worn by celebrities and Obama, but this is one of the rare occasions where reality matches the hype.

Allbirds are for anyone who wants a comfortable and affordable pair of shoes that are ideal for walking or standing for long periods.

And there are so many different styles of Allbirds now that there really is a pair for everyone.

Whether you’re looking for flats that don’t hurt your feet, comfortable sneakers to wear without socks, or warm slip-on shoes for those long days at work – there’s an Allbirds style that meets that need.

Where Can I Buy Allbirds?

The best place to purchase Allbirds shoes is on their website.

This is where you’ll find the most color options in stock and you can read recent reviews about the style you want to purchase.

Otherwise, you can also purchase Allbirds at one of the official Allbirds stores.

These are now located in various major cities around the world, such as San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Boston, Austin, Washington DC, Auckland, London, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Berlin, and Tokyo.

So, Are Allbirds Worth the Money?

100% yes.

I’d even go so far as to say that $95 is a steal for how comfortable Allbirds sneakers are.

And really, $95 isn’t that much money for a quality pair of sneakers these days.

If you’re looking to purchase Allbirds as your daily sneaker, even if they only last for a year, that comes out to a $0.25 investment per day.

Not bad for happy and warm feet.
